A.
Supply on-going leadership training and offer “peace moderator”
certification.
Community Progress conducts on-going surveys of associations, advocacy
groups, community groups and clubs, to update our database and to keep
aware of relevant issues. We have long determined there is a need for leaders
to improve their communication skills and find better, more effective
ways to mediate organizational conflict, and guide goals. Specifically,
we offer training that focuses on increasing leadership effectiveness,
by improving membership relations and community outreach communication
strategies. Part
of the training includes conflict resolution strategies that foster
peace within a group. B.
Provide on-line educational resources and database for on-going membership
usage.
Specific outcome objectives would be to create an extensive on-line
database of social issues research, articles, reference links, training
materials and news updates with easy access for key participants and member organizations. We encourage multi-organizational input and
look to our members to contribute, promote and support our work. We
are affiliated with a number of training and community ‘media’
based resource organizations that share data, books, tapes and other
useful materials with us.
C.
Sponsor a Peace Conference initiative to teach alternative conflict
resolution.
In partnership with Days of Dialogue, L.A. City Attorney’s of
Mediation, New York Peace Network, UCLA, and other social workers specializing
in gang intervention, Community Progress is currently involved in securing
interest and sponsorship of a citywide Gang Peace Conference initiative
that would bring a truce and communication to disenfranchised individuals
& neighborhood groups looking for an outlet towards peace.
Our sister organization www.PeaceConference.org
offers an easy to apply process that allows all sides of an issue equal
say, while creating the possibility for peace and resolution.
D.
Publish a Social Issues e-journal report and open access advocacy
educational website.
Social Issues is an
independent media project and exists in creative collaboration with
universities, think tanks and issue concerned organizations. The web
project and future planned printed journal serve as a public issue
guide for concerned citizens and voters.
